- would we use it again?

Clean showers, decent washing-up areas, water, waste disposal, electric hook-up, laundry, a small shop or somewhere nearby for food can all make life easier.
But facilities are not the whole story.
Some of our favourite stops are simple because they are in the right place, have a good feel or make the journey work better.
A stop does not need to be perfect to be worth recommending.
Food Nearby Is a Bonus
Because food is part of how we travel, we always notice what is nearby.
A good bakery, farm shop, fishmonger, market, café, pub, taverna, restaurant or local producer can turn a practical stop into a memorable one.
Sometimes a campsite is better because you can walk to a village.
Sometimes a ferry stop works because there is somewhere decent to eat nearby.
Sometimes the food nearby is the reason we would use the stop again.
